Readers Advisory

Download best-selling digital audiobooks 24/7 to your PC at home, in the office, or from anywhere in the world. You can transfer titles to your portable device and many can be burned to CD to listen on the go. 
The eMediaLibrary, powered by OverDrive, offers a new look to the former ListenIllinois website, but the same, friendly user experience.

Readers Advisory at Lisle Library provides a staff who love to read, research, and recommend a wide variety of all types of literature and genre fiction.

Readers Advisory Services include:
  • Maintaining an excellent collection of classic and popular fiction
  • A public service desk located in the Fiction area staffed by persons interested in helping patrons to select the "right" book for the current mood
  • A Home Bound Delivery Service for those patrons physically unable to visit the library
  • Monthly book discussion groups
  • Book display areas with a variety of selections
  • Diverse literary, cultural, and educational programs offered to the public free of charge

   NoveList -- Your guide to Fiction -- Besides locating books to read, users can learn more about books and authors through Feature Articles, Book Discussion Guides, and BookTalks. These features have been developed specifically with NoveList users in mind, offering support for librarians, teachers, and individual readers -- Just click on the icon! Home Delivery Outreach Service 

Those wanting Home Delivery Service must:.

  • Reside in the Lisle Library District
  • Own (or acquire) a valid Lisle Library card
  • Be unable to get to the Library due to disability or situation which prevents visiting in person for an extended period of time

To request service, call the Readers Advisory desk and ask for Linda Anderanin at (630) 971-1675 or email Linda Anderanin

Delivery Schedule:

Currently, books are delivered and picked up by volunteers every other Wednesday.

Please take the time to visit our Large Print aisle at Lisle Library, located next to the "New Books" near the Readers Advisory desk.  The aisle is divided into 2 categories:  Mainstream Fiction and Mystery. Large Print non-fiction is distributed among the collection. You can ask a Reader's Advisor for a browsing list of Large Print non-fiction books in Dewey Decimal order.

The facilitators of Lisle Library's book/film groups have created 5 unique online discussion forums -- each tailored to the groups that meet here at the library.  Please click on title link and join us virtually.

  • Just the Facts Book Group: Affiliated with Lisle Library's nonfiction book group, this is a forum for discussions, and also has info on events/authors of interest.

  • Lisle SF/F Book Group: Welcome to a place to discuss Science Fiction/Fantasy book group selections, what we're reading, ourselves, and keep up with upcoming events, author info, and more!

  • RA Book Group at Lisle Library: The RA Book Group meets the second Thursday of every month at the Lisle Library District to share our thoughts on the latest books we read.

  • Murder Among Friends Book Group: Pull up your virtual armchair & talk about group book selections, authors, events, & all things of a mysterious nature we can come up with!

  • Just Between Frames Film Group: This adult services film club shows classic, cult, and current movies picked by members. Attendees must be 17 years or older.
