Your Library Card

All Lisle Library District residents are eligible for a library card.  The library district includes most of Lisle,  including unincorporated subdivisions such as Four Lakes, Woodridge Estates and The Meadows.  Portions of unincorporated Naperville, including Steeple Run, are also included in the district.  Lisle Library District residents pay taxes to the library district, which is reflected on their tax bill.  Everyone in the household is entitled to a library card, regardless of age.

  • A photo ID and proof of residency (lease, utility bill or checkbook) presented in person, is necessary to obtain a library card.  A driver's license or state ID is sufficient for proof  if the address is current.
  • Children under the age of 18 need to have a parent/guardian present when registering.

Loan Periods, Fines and Fees

  • Certain items in the library's material collection are fee items, including feature films and equipment.
  • All items, except reserved and fee items, may be renewed up to two times.
  • Materials may be reserved, excluding fee items, by valid Lisle resident cardholders.
  • Lisle Library reserves the right to limit numbers of items and shorten loan periods for seasonal, special display, school assignment, and high-demand material.
  • As a courtesy to patrons, reminders and overdue notices are mailed out or emailed to patrons.  Delinquent accounts are sent to collection.

Reserves

All non-fee items that are not on the shelf may be placed on reserve by Lisle Library District residents only.  Reserves can be done in person, over the phone, or online from home  http://www.lislelibrary.org  You will be notified when the materials are available and will have three days to pick them up.

Renewals

All non-fee materials may be renewed in person, over the phone, or online from home.

To renew items online from home or library catalog computers, you must not have any blocks on your account:

  • Access the library's web catalog by selecting the "Your Account" button on the library homepage            http://www.lislelibrary.org
  • Enter your library card barcode number and your password.  A default password, the last four digits of your home phone, was set up at the time of your registration.
  • Access the "Items Out" tab to select items to be renewed.
  • There is a limit of two renewals per item.
  • For books, the new due date is three weeks from the day of renewal, not three weeks from previous due date.
  • Materials on reserve for another patron cannot be renewed.
  • Overdue items can only be renewed by calling the Lisle Library Circulation Desk.

E-mail Notification

Lisle Library offers E-mail notification service to our patrons. In addition to the old overdue notices that generate two weeks after an item is due, now you can sign up for our e-mail reminder (almost overdue) notices, which generate three days before an item is due. If you have multiple due dates, the next reminder will not be sent to you until three days later. E-mail reminders list all items checked out to your library card.

E-mail notification is a courtesy service.  Patrons are still responsible for overdue fines regardless of non-receipt of notification.

Sign up in person, over the phone, or online. If you'd like to sign up over the phone, or have questions, please contact Circulation Services at 630-971-1675 Ext. 2006.

To sign up online, please include your name, e-mail address, and library card barcode number. Click here to sign up now.

Please Note:  If your computer has a spam filter, it will bounce the notification back to us. To correct this, please enter our e-mail address: circ@lislelibrary.org in your address book.
