The World Factbook Here is a good place to start when you have a country report to do. This site is maintained by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and is a good source for basic, statistical information.

World Flag Database - There are over 260 pages on countries and international organizations. Each page contains basic information on the country, including its formal name, capital city, area, population, currency, languages, and religions. The flags include the national and state flags, ensigns, and sub-national flags. Where countries have changed their flags in the last few years the old flag is also shown.

American Library Association Book/Media Awards An extensive list of book awards that includes both nominees and winners. A good place to browse around if you are looking for something that is both notable and enjoyable to read.

Citation Machine - This useful site enables students to create bibliographic citations by simply filling in the information needed.  Many of the common citation types are included, such as those used for encyclopedias, Web sites, and interviews.  The citations can be cut-and-pasted into a word-processing document.   

Database of Award-Winning Children’s Literature -  Use drop down lists to help find the perfect award-winning book.

Ethan's Bookshelf - An easy to use site to help find a book for a child using age, genre, and various themes. Includes an assortment of book lists to help you get started. 

The World of Victor - Games, coloring pages, and other exercises used to help children from two to four years old develop multi-media skills.
