Help Adults Learn to Read and Speak in English
You can make a difference in someone’s life by
volunteering your time to help foreign language adult speakers learn to
communicate in English, or work with adults who have basic reading and
writing skill building needs. Literacy DuPage offers
tutor training classes at different community libraries throughout the
year, then matches certified volunteer tutors with adult learners who
need assistance. Go to www.literacydupage.org
for a schedule of classes or call 630.416.6699 for more information.
People's Resource Center, with locations in Wheaton and Westmont, helps residents of DuPage County with their basic human needs, promotes dignity and justice, and creates opportunities through community sharing and involvement. Volunteers can work in areas including tutoring, food pantry, computer training and job finding assistance. Contact the PRC at www.peoplesrc.org or 630.682.5402 for more information. |
