The Lisle Library works together in partnerships with local schools and community agencies, to provide individual family, community and workplace literacy services to Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) learners throughout the county.

ESL for You! Classes
The Lisle Library will once again sponsor free
English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction offered to parents of ESL
students in the local schools and other adults learners. Classes are
held in the Lisle Library's Meeting Room B from 10:00 a.m. - Noon on the
following Saturday mornings:
September 20; October 4; October 18; November
1; November 15; November 29; December 6; December 20
No registration is required so please just come to

Help Adults Learn to Read and Speak in English
You can make a difference in someone’s life by
volunteering your time to help foreign language adult speakers learn to
communicate in English, or work with adults who have basic reading and
writing skill building needs. The Literacy Volunteers-DuPage offers
tutor training classes at different community libraries throughout the
year, then matches certified volunteer tutors with adult learners who
need assistance. Upcoming tutor training sessions are:
