Internet Safety

  • All Safe Sites - A warehouse of sites that are child friendly. Topics include education, technology, fun and games, and entertainment.

  • Bnetsavvy - An e-newsletter that helps show parents, teachers, and guardians how to keep young kids safe online. 

  • Learn the Net - Helpful tips to keep children safe on the internet.

  • Get Net Wise - Information for parents and children on how to use the internet safely.

  • OnGuardOnline.gov - Rules to help kids and teens navigate social networking sites, chat rooms, virtual worlds, and blogs.

  • SafeKids.com - Kids rules for online safety.

Home Schooling

  • A to Z Home's Cool Homeschooling Web Site - A large education site with lots to read and do!

  • DuPage County Regional Office of Education - Do you have an interest in home schooling? Where do you start? What do you need to know?  Here is a listing of resources that may be useful as you begin this all-important endeavor.

  • HomeEducator.com - The place for educational entrepreneurs.

  • Homeschool Teacher's Lounge - Homeschool Teacher's Lounge includes resources to graphic organizers, thematic units, games, puzzle makers, free worksheets, on-line interactive activities, child-safe search engines, lesson plans, crafts, book lists, virtual field trips, field trip critiques, and more. 

  • Homeschool World - Homeschool articles, events and support groups from the publishers of Practical Homeschooling, Homeschool PC, and Big Happy Family.

  • Homeschooling Kids with Disabilities - offers information and support to people who are homeschooling children with special educational needs.

  • Home School Legal Defense Association - HSLDA is a non-profit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms.

  • Illinois H.O.U.S.E. - Home Oriented Unique Schooling Experience, HOUSE provides encouragement and networking for families who educate their own children.

  • Illinois Learning Standards - Learning standards from the Illinois State Board of Education.

  • Will County Regional Office of Education - The Will County Regional Office of Education sends packets to those interested in home schooling which includes a cover letter, Statement of Assurance, ISBE's Non-Public Registration Enrollment and Staff Report, and Resource List for Private Home Schools.

Parenting

  • Chicago Kids - Information on fun activities and events for children and families.

  • Chicago Parent - Online version of Chicago Parent magazine.

  • Dr. Spock A website from the most trusted pediatrician himself. Informational topics range from pregnancy to school age children.

  • Family Education A great resource for parents on issues like: health, fun activities, learning, and parenting advice. The site is set up by age, and also provides expert advice and advice from other parents.

  • Oaklee's Guide - Calendar of events and family activities in the Chicagoland area.

  • Parenthood Web - The WWW community for parents and prospective parents, focusing on childcare and parenting issues.
