Youth Services, located on the second floor of
the library, provides high quality services and materials for children
from birth through tenth grade, as well as those who work with them.
The following is a sampling:
|
- Librarians
who can answer your questions in person or by phone; help you select
materials for assignments and/or recreational reading.
|
- Computers
with software programs and educational programs, as well as online
database products.
|
- Special
services such as a school liaison, assignment shelf, teacher
collections, a newsletter to the schools, school visits, booktalks,
library tours, tailored storytimes, Get Well Kits for an ailing child,
Travel Kits—a personal package of library materials designed for
children who are taking a trip; junior high services that include
junior volunteers and a junior advisory board.

- Parent/teacher
collection filled with ideas for classroom projects, special learning
situations, child rearing, sensitive topics, pediatric problems and
the like.
|
- Thousands
of hardcover and paperback titles, fiction and non-fiction for toddler
through tenth grade interest levels.
|
- Magazine
selections that include over 60 special interest publications for
toddler through teen and 21 parent/teacher publications.
|
- Over
5,000 audio-visual materials including puzzles, books and tapes,
recorded books, popular music tapes, educational and science kits,
child care kits and much more…
|
- Storytimes,
educational and recreational presentations, crafts, drama, reading
programs offered for varied interests and age groups.
|
- And
to keep you informed of all the happenings, a brochure describing
activities is available on a monthly basis in the Youth Services
Department.
