Booked for the Day

The Sibling Effect by Jeffrey Kluger.

On Monday, November 3rd, the Booked for the Day Book Group met to discuss, The Sibling Effect by Jeffrey Kluger. Here are a few things we discussed during the meeting:

We thought that this book was therapeutic for the author, a chance to come to terms with his childhood. We also thought that Kluger cared more about his personal story then the research and statistics he used and that this book would have worked better if he’d just chosen to make it a memoir and drop the pretense of science entirely. In addition we wondered what type of expertise he had on this subject except a personal one.

Unfortunately only a few members were able to finish the book. Most found it was not relevant to their family life so our discussion was short lived. I personally felt the book gave me ammo to tease my mother about being a middle child. Mostly we told amusing stories that had to do with our siblings so we did have a nice time.

These are just a few things mentioned during the discussion. Please feel free to add any of your thoughts in the comment section.
