Event Type: Film Discussion GroupDate: 2/27/2010 Start Time: 1:00 PM End Time: 4:30 PM Description: When a film uses a book for the story it will tell it is called an adaptation. When we watch this month's film "Adaptation", we'll see what happens when a film is about a screenwriter's use of a book, "The Orchid Thief" (an actual book), its author (Susan Orlean) and its protagonist, John Laroche, who was arrested in 1994 together with a group of Seminoles, for stealing rare orchids, as the basis for a screenplay he is struggling to write. Adding to the interweaving of reality and fiction, Nicholas Cage plays a screenwriter named Charlie Kauffman, while the author of "Adaptation" is the real life screenwriter -- Charlie Kauffman. Please join us as we sort this all out!
