Watch out for that rabbit hole!

One word describes our thoughts on this book…frustration. It’s frustrating when you read about the choices someone made that you would not have made. Frustration that some of the same old ideas that women have been raging against for decades are still held by some people. Frustration that youth and beauty and body type are still revered in our culture. And frustration that we couldn’t shake Holly by the shoulders and say “Wake up and smell the Viagra!” Playboy is a dying empire, but is its heyday it made millions for Hefner and its Playmates stars. But there is a downside to this, and some of the girls voiced the fear that appearing in Playboy would not open the doors for them they were counting on. And the rules…how draconian! Back at the mansion by 9 pm, mandatory movie nights, spending time with Hef. It was more than some of the girls could handle. But the worst of all was the frustration felt when Holly would describe how she was treated while living in the mansion. Verbal abuse, being told she wasn’t pretty enough, catching flak when she changed her hair style for goodness sake! I hope her life is better now, and it seems that it is.
