We liked it! We really liked it!

Our group was in agreement. We all liked The World's Strongest Librarian. Many of us agreed on why we liked it as well. We were an agreeable group! To be serious, the majority of the group felt this was an upbeat and inspiring book. The author is strong (in more ways than one) and can work through the issues of Tourette's syndrome and come out the other end with goals achieved. We also agreed that this would not have been possible without his family. He was very close with his brothers and sisters, and the rest of his family accepted him unconditionally. His faith also played a big part in the everyday successes, and being accepted in his faith community led to him being more sociable. His mother fostered his love of reading...he fell in love with Fern from Charlotte's Web. His father helped him find ways to ease his tics...through playing music, strength training and focus. One topic we did not discuss was the author's missionary work in Washington D.C. It was extremely stressful because the author was going through a crisis of faith at the time, and didn't feel he could meet his responsibilities. As his tics got worse, Josh struggled with different tactics, finally achieving success in beating "Misty" with breathing techniques. As the tics subsided, his life seemed to come together

Our group sympathized with Josh and his wife as they struggled through trying to adopt through the Church. When Josh tried yet again to attend college, or lost yet another job because of his tics. He is a very relatable person, and did not sugar-coat the struggles, and eventual triumph he experiences. Finally finishing college, getting his MLS, and having a child all were great achievements, given how hard he worked.

The end of the book felt like a cliff-hanger though. I know I, and several others, want him to write another book, and let us know how he and his son are doing. It was that good a read.
