Butterfly Garden Update Featuring Turtles!

On the eve of America’s birthday, TAB set out to tend to the blossoming Butterfly Garden that we planted this past May. For those out of the loop, TAB, in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, planted several butterfly-friendly plants to help bolster the declining Monarch Butterfly population in North America. The result of TAB’s hard work is beautifully apparent!

A yes! The springing Milkweed! The lovely Pearl Everlastings! The tall and proud Purple Coneflower! And the turtles! Yes the turtle harvest will be bountiful this year. Well, maybe not, but we did let Jack and Jill, the library turtles that you can find on the second floor of the library, roam the butterfly garden for a bit to do turtle stuff. On top of tending to the garden, TAB posted lovely signs identifying the flowers in our garden.

After spending time crafting the posts, we then stuffed our faces with pizza and Oreos, and continued on with planning on what we would like to do in the Fall in terms of fun activities.

If you have any fun ideas that you wish to share with us, send it to the TAB email address: TAB@lislelibrary.org
