Murder and Mayhem in Chicago is up to year three! And it looks like there's another great mystery day being offered. Let's help make them successful -- and have fun too!
It is a one-day event featuring some of Chicago’s top mystery/crime writers and a few of their friends, too. This event is perfect for crime readers and librarians hoping to find new books to read and aspiring crime writers hoping to learn about the mystery community and writing and publishing careers. One of the main organizers is our friend Lori Rader-Day. We'll blog more information on this as we get it. Registration is currently $65.00 + $5.68 fee (Site now says: "Sales end on March 21st")

Welcome to ThrillerFest XIV! We’re excited to present a blockbuster line-up featuring 2019 ThrillerMaster John Sandford, along with 2019 Thriller Legend Margaret Marbury, with more spotlight guests to be announced soon! Join us for the ATF workshop, Master Class, CraftFest, PitchFest, ThrillerFest, and more. We encourage all thriller enthusiasts to join the ThrillerFest family. The 2019 Thrillerfest is from July 9 - 13, 2019 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City.
Presented by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
Add authenticity to your thrillers! The pre-conference ATF Workshop is a limited attendance event on the day before the main elements of the ThrillerFest conference. The cost is $150 which includes morning coffee service. Lunch is on your own during a 1.5 hour break. Space is limited and has previously sold out quickly. The workshop will be held at the Grand Hyatt.
Join our stellar group of teachers on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at ITW’s Master Class, a hands-on workshop for writers of all levels. It’s an intense but extremely helpful day. Each class, which is limited to 10 students, will allow you to work with a bestselling author on your manuscript in progress.
Our instructors this year include: Steve Berry, Grant Blackwood, David Corbett, Karen Dionne, Robert Dugoni, Steven James, D.P. Lyle, Gayle Lynds, Donald Maass and F. Paul Wilson. And of course we will again have our popular Best First Sentence Contest. So get to work on your opening line.
The original vision of CraftFest was to create exceptional and one-of a-kind classes for teaching the craft of thriller writing. Our mission has always been to provide attendees with the tools needed to take their writing to the next level and to help each reach their individual career goals. For over a decade now, we have worked to fulfill this vision. 2018 was yet again a great success and now we are preparing our 2019 line up of teachers and classes.
As always, CraftFest will have 4 tracks that for 2019 will run all day Wednesday, July 10 and for two hours on the morning of Thursday, July 11. Many of your favorite teachers will return and other exceptional authors and teachers will be added as we continue to evolve and improve.
PitchFest: PitchFest is designed to put authors and agents together for the purpose of pitching projects. This will be an unprecedented opportunity for those writers looking to get or change agents. And where better to have this event than in the heart of publishing, New York City? PitchFest is set up like a speed-dating event. You pitch your novel to an agent for a few minutes, get the agent’s reaction, and then move on to a different agent. Please note: PitchFest is available only in a package with ThrillerFest and/or CraftFest. Registering for ThrillerFest alone does not qualify you to attend PitchFest.
