2014 David Gemmell Award for Fantasy

I'm catching up on some of my award posts here (in case you couldn't already tell).  Today, I wanted to post about an award that's new to me, but maybe not to some of you: The David Gemmell Award for Fantasy was established and first awarded in 2009.  It honors fantasy novels that adhere to the "heroic" or "epic" subgenre that David Gemmell, himself, worked in.   Here is the list of the nominees for Best Novel and Best Debut Novel, but you can find all of the nominees and info about the award HERE.   Please note that Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan is nominated -- and is our July book selection!

Legend Award for Best Novel nominees:
The Daylight War by Peter V Brett (SF-F BRE)
Emperor of Thorns by Mark Lawrence (SF-F LAW)
The Republic of Thieves by Scott Lynch (not at LLD)
A Memory of Light by Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan (SF-F JOR)
War Master's Gate by Adrian Tchaikovsky  (not at LLD)
