The Hurricane Sisters by Dorothea Benton Frank
Review: always a great summer read. Ms. Frank's books are always hard to put down.
Behind the Gates of Gomorrah- A Year with the Criminally Insane by Stephen Seager
Review: The justice system and laws for the "criminally insane" needs revisiting. Reading about all of the people who the courts would like to label as "insane" or "not guilty by reason of insanity" and on and on is very scary. True stories of a mental state hospital for this type is disturbing. Inside look at what goes on at one of the most famous, Napa State Hospital in California, is just criminal in itself (yes, pun intended). Sometimes I question if I can continue on with my choice of studies and work. This book is a "must read" in my opinion. Warning, it'll make you really angry though.
All the President's Menus by Julie Hyzy
Review: The series continues. The plot involves visiting chefs and a plot to assassinate one of their political leaders. At this points (eight books in), I am tired of this plot thickening. It is hard to continue cooking up enough intrigue in the White House. Ollie and her new husband may end up owning and running a winery and restaurant. So more books to come? I can't wait to hear the titles!
