Black Powder War by Naomi Novik
Review Third book is a delight. Temeraire is a wonderful dragon. The story is fast-paced. I highly recommend this for an action-packed adventure. It does my heart good.
The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty
Review: Very interesting historical fiction about the future silent film star, Louise Brooks, and the married woman who accompanies her to New York one summer in the early 1900s. Each woman has her secret reason for going to New York, and together they work their way through the city and the people they meet to face their past and current problems.
Whistling Past the Graveyard by Susan Crandall
Review: Amazing book about the old south with wonderfully strong characters, a young white girl and an African American woman, who develop a strong bond as they both try to find their "families" while working their way through the difficulties they encounter along the way.
