Summer Read Reviews

Today's reviews -- 3 of them!

Seriously...I'm Kidding by Ellen Degeneres
Review: I was extremely disappointed with this book/audiobook,especially since I fins Ellen to be so inspirational and hilarious. This book is basically a stream of her consciousness. At first, it's funny, quirky, and entertaining. After a while though...it gets old.

Paw and Order by Diane Kelly
Review: This is a wonderful followup to the first book in this series: "Paw Enforcement" which lays the groundwork for Fort Worth cop Megan to be assigned her four-legged partner German shepherd Brigit and established the start of her relationship with fireman/bomb squad member Seth. As you can tell, relationships - both personal and professional are a major focus in these light police procedural/cozy stories. This story picks up where the first leaves off, with Megan and Brigit becoming a real team and Seth and Megan starting to face the issues raised in the first book. The crime scene takes place at the Fort Worth rodeo where the stakes quickly escalate, and further personal complications ensue. The chapters done from Brigit's point of view remain hilarious, and the crazy things that happen to both cops and
criminals keep the pace fast and fun. Chapters done from the criminal's point of view are a clever way to pull readers into a more full understanding of the character -- as well as some (reluctant!) sympathy for the insane mess they are creating. Definitely enjoyed this one as much as the first, and both are particularly great for summer beach reading!

The Fifth Floor by Julie Oleszek
Review: I enjoyed the book.  Great reading.
