The Lisle Library District (LLD) open to the public!
Due to the continued risk of COVID-19, the LLD has implemented new user requirements, added services, and limits on some of our resources and space.
- Monday – Friday: 9:30 am* to 9:00 pm
- Saturday – 9:30 am to 5:00 pm
- Sunday – 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
The first hour of the day, Monday through Friday, is reserved for patrons who are more vulnerable; senior citizens, young children/caregivers/pregnant patrons, and those who have compromised immune systems.
Masks are required in the facility. Per Illinois State law, all persons over the age of 2 must cover their nose and mouth when in the Library (IL EXECUTIVE ORDER 2020-43 | COVID-19 EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 41). LLD staff will greet patrons at the entrance and provide a complimentary face mask to someone who hasn’t come prepared. The LLD requires patrons to wear masks that block particulates from spreading. Mesh or ‘netted’ masks are not acceptable. If you do not have this type of mask, please utilize the complimentary masks when visiting the Library building.
- It’s the law
- It’s to protect the health of patrons and staff
- It’s to ensure the LLD can stay open
Wearing a mask is an act of respect, caring, and support for our community’s health and economy.
The LLD has adult and child-size masks. The LLD also has automated hand sanitizer stations and hand-pumps throughout the building. Some collections may require gloves to browse, such as the bin-shelving in Youth Services. The LLD has complimentary gloves for browsing these collections.
Patrons may visit the Library for up to one hour. Staff will monitor visit times. Patrons will be asked to wrap-up their visit upon an hour of use. We are limiting visit time to reduce the potential for community spread.
The inside of the Library will look a little bit different when you come visit. There are areas that have been repurposed for Curbside Pick-up, office space, and areas where furniture has been removed. Right now, we are open for a browse-and-go experience regarding materials. There are a variety of signs throughout the building indicating service options and safety reminders.
Public computers will be for EXPRESS use only and be limited to 15 minutes of use. The number of accessible computers has also been reduced to allow proper social distancing. The service desks have specific sanitization supplies for patrons using the public computers. One-on-one staff assistance is not available. However, staff will provide general directives and assist with LLD collection information.
Use of the meeting rooms and group study rooms is not available at this time. No public programs will occur within the facility until further notice. There is very little public seating in the building. There are some chairs along the main aisle on the adult floor for patrons who need to cool off or take a break. Couches/tables are not accessible.
When browsing books/materials, if patrons pull materials off the shelf and then choose not to check them out, we ask that patrons please place the materials on a book-cart so that staff can quarantine the items. We are continuing to quarantine materials for 4 days. We want to do everything we can to minimize the risk to our patrons.
Elevator use is limited to one person/one family at a time.
Curbside Pick-up continues! This added service was initiated on May 18, 2020 to provide Library materials while the building was closed. We know that there are residents who aren’t yet comfortable coming into a public building. There are also patrons who just really appreciate the convenience of placing holds online and having a drive-up option. Either way, we are here to serve you. Online Library Card registration continues. For more information, click HERE.
There is no doubt that the new procedures will pose some challenges for both residents and for the LLD staff. But I am confident that our community will rise to the occasion for the benefit of all. Thank you for your understanding, for your patience, and for keeping each other healthy and safe.
