Overview
The Lisle Library District (LLD) is governed by a seven member elected Board of Trustees. The Board is elected at-large, in a regularly scheduled election, by voters residing in the District. A regular term is four years, and the terms are staggered with at least three terms expiring every two years. Officers are elected by the Board to serve necessary positions. Regularly scheduled meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise noted. The public is welcome to attend meetings. Trustees serve in this position with no compensation. Standing and Ad-Hoc Committees focus on specific Library needs.
Main Duties of the LLD Board of Trustees
- Set policy for the Lisle Library District
- Act as fiduciary for the District
- Attend and actively participate in Board/Committee meetings
- Hire/evaluate the Director
- Support the American Library Association (ALA) Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement, and Freedom to View Statement
2026/2027 Consolidated Election Information
The next local Consolidated Election takes place on April 6, 2027. Lisle Library District (LLD) residents interested in running for a seat on the LLD Board of Trustees may pick up an election packet beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at the main Circulation Desk on the first floor of the Library at 777 Front Street, Lisle, IL 60532.
Four Trustee seats are up for election; each with a 4-year term.

Guidelines for circulating election petitions (from the LLD Code of Conduct, Policy 610):
Circulating petitions, surveys, distributing/posting literature, dispensing items/food, or campaigning is not allowed inside the building with the exception of Library-sanctioned activities. Outside the building, such activities may be conducted at least 15 feet away from the entrances of the building. These activities may not disrupt LLD operations, impede people from
entering or leaving, create unsafe traffic patterns on the sidewalks or in parking lots, or imply LLD sponsorship or
endorsement. Persons circulating petitions, surveys, or literature may not place tables, tents, or chairs (excluding assistive chairs) on LLD property. Persons circulating petitions, surveys, or literature may not post signs on LLD property. Patrons may not be harassed, threatened, or coercively detained by persons distributing literature or seeking signatures.
